Crime and its behavior are one of the most pressing issues in society nowadays. Many people believe that criminal behavior has roots in genetics. But I agree with the view that the circumstances push individuals to commit crimes.
From the one perspective, people who believe in the first statement have probably encountered individuals raised in dysfunctional families. Human’s behavior and attitude of mind depend on the environment and circumstances in which a person was raised. For instance, a child who had been raised in family, where violence and disregard for rules were normal would probably copy those patterns of behavior he observed during his childhood. Due to this destructive family environment, poverty and the absence of support, the person may be driven to commit crimes, and it is not about genetic predisposition.
But on the other hand, some people surmise that the reason for criminal behavior lies in the circumstances a person may face throughout his life. Individuals attitude of mind is formed due to life circumstances. There is a big variety of reasons that may push people to commit crime. For example, someone may feel social pressing, constant humiliations and frustration due to problems with finances, psyche or a personal relationship, so as a result this person may commit a crime pursuing a goal of taking revenge or relieving their permanent pain.
In conclusion, some people tend to copy their parent patterns of behavior so due to this they commit a crime, while others do this due to their life circumstances they face throughout their lifetime. As for me, the second view covers most of the crimes committed, therefore this issue brings a lot of threats to society.
