An increasing tendency in modern society is the younger generation's decreased communication with the elder generations in comparison to previous generations. Numerous causes contribute to this phenomenon, and resolving it will need a concentrated effort to reduce the generational divide.

First and foremost, the decline in communication between younger and older generations can be attributed to the technology revolution. To explain, the emergence of social media, instant messaging, and cellphones has changed the nature of interpersonal communication. Resultantly, intergenerational relationships suffer as meaningful face-to-face talks become scarce due to this digital divide. Another apparent reason is the hectic pace of modern life. To substantiate, hectic schedules, demanding professions, and several responsibilities in the contemporary life frequently leads to surface-level relationships, which restricts the depth of connection across generations.

A multifaceted strategy is required to promote increased communication between the younger and elder generations. Firstly, promoting intergenerational understanding may be greatly aided by educational programs that promote intergenerational conversation and mutual respect for one another's viewpoints should be organized by schools and community organizations. Additionally, social gatherings and community activities can also operate as forums for conversation. In other words, by creating community spaces, possibilities for deep relationships can be created for people of all ages to gather for shared activities, conversations, or seminars. Apart from this, closing the technology divide can also be achieved by encouraging older generations to be digitally literate.

In conclusion, the fast-paced nature of modern life and technology improvements have a significant impact on the communication between young and elderly people. However, society should seek to strengthen intergenerational links that support a more peaceful and cohesive community.
