Listening & Reading Conversion
Your band score for Listening and Reading is determined by the number of correct answers out of 40. While the conversion for Listening is the same for both test types, the Reading section has different requirements for Academic and General Training.

Writing & Speaking Criteria
For Writing and Speaking, your score is an average of four key criteria. To improve your score, you must focus on improving in each of these areas equally.
Writing

No, all four modules (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) are weighted equally when calculating your overall band score. However, many universities and immigration bodies have minimum score requirements for *each individual module*, especially Writing. Always check the specific requirements of the institution you’re applying to.
IELTS has a clear rounding system. If your average score ends in .25, it’s rounded up to the next half band (e.g., 6.25 becomes 6.5). If it ends in .75, it’s rounded up to the next whole band (e.g., 6.75 becomes 7.0). Our calculator handles this automatically for you!
Yes, you can apply for an Enquiry on Results (EOR) within six weeks of your test date. Your test will be re-marked by a senior examiner.
