ome people believe that in the modern world we are more dependent on each other, while others argue that people have become more independent. Both perspectives have merit, and I will discuss them before giving my own opinion.
On one hand, some argue that we are increasingly dependent on each other. In today’s globalized society, economies, technologies, and communication networks connect people across the world. For example, supply chains often span multiple countries, meaning that the production of everyday goods depends on collaboration between workers, suppliers, and logistics companies worldwide. Similarly, social networks and digital platforms encourage individuals to rely on online communities for advice, emotional support, and even professional opportunities. This interconnectedness suggests that people cannot function in isolation.
On the other hand, others believe that modern society has made individuals more independent. Advances in technology, particularly smartphones, the internet, and AI tools, allow people to perform tasks on their own without relying on others. For instance, online banking, remote learning, and automated services reduce the need for physical assistance, giving individuals greater control over their personal and professional lives. Additionally, the rise of freelance work and self-employment provides opportunities for people to live and work independently, free from traditional organizational structures.
