Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to bring in your attention few errors in the information published about my town which I read in an article published in the November issue of ‘National Geographic Traveler’.

My name is Takeshi Suzuki and I am a resident of Hakone, Japan. The information in the article regarding a volcanic valley which constantly emits smoke is not a true representation of my area. The accurate data is that the valley emits continuous smoke occasionally and not at all times.

The reason for this correction is that errors in publications that are read by a large audience have the potential to create false impressions of our town, which could harm its reputation and discourage tourists. Since readers depend on this magazine for insights into a variety of destinations, it is imperative that the publication give them genuine information.

In my opinion, you should think about printing a correction pointing out the errors in the prior article and including the proper information in your upcoming issue. You may consider adopting stringent procedures for fact-checking articles to guarantee that the data in upcoming publications is accurate.

I look forward to seeing the corrected information in your future publications.

Yours faithfully,
Takashi Suzuki
