Individuals can alleviate environmental issues. Plastic bags take millions of years to decompose in nature. If people carry cloth bags while shopping, they can reduce the amount of plastic they use. Another action people can take is to use public transportation for travel. When they do so, they can reduce their carbon footprint, which is responsible for global warming which can cause flooding in coastal cities of a rise in sea levels. In addition, using e-books is another measure which can be taken by people. This can reduce the number of trees that must be cut down to manufacture paper.
However, the government can also take steps to help preserve the environment. It can invest in renewable sources of energy, including solar power, nuclear power, or wind power. This can reduce the amount of fossil fuels, which have led to global warming and acid rain. Deforestation is another environmental issue which can be solved by government legislation. If the government imposes strict laws to set quotas to the number of trees logging companies can cut, and forces them to plant new saplings, deforestation can be reduced.
In conclusion, in my opinion, individuals can help preserve the environment by using cloth bags, public
transportation and e-books. On the other hand, governments can also use legislation and move from fossil fuels to environmentally friendly energy sources by investing. Therefore, I believe that both citizens and the government can help mitigate environmental concerns.
